Default RE: Help with Tuner choice

I have a 07 Fatboy, with 3,200 on it. I have The HD race tuner , the SE AC and Vance and Hines BSS.
I did notice that when I took off the "football" and just put a HD cover on the AC so the air filter was exposed that it significantly improved the way the engine ran and this is after a 1K dyno tune. With that said, I would say go for a K&N AC and cover that allows all the air you can get. In my case the bike was fat runing in lower gears city streets, and now that appears to have subsided somewhat < more air is good>

Also- recently rode 270 miles on Sunday- got 100 miles to the 1/2 tank where as with the football cover on i would have gotten 88 miles to the half tank noted from a previous ride over same route / speeds / riding approx same pace.

Have the Tmax with Auto tune to put on the bike- just need to make time to do it. Might wait till springtime though..... will work with cams from king of cubes and gear drive upgrade I would like to do in '08.

I haven't had any problem getting ahold of someone at Zippers. When I was doin' all my research trying to figure out which tuner I wanted to go with, one of the guys there explained to me exactly how everything worked with the T-max. He was very polite and helpful. Maybe you caught them at a busy time or something.

I have the same thoughts for my 05 Fatboy.
I installed Screamin Eagle II slip ons and still have the factory AC. I really dont see the need to change it as I am happy with the power the bike has now. Popular opinon seems to be going with the HP AC.
I am looking at the Vance and Hines Fuelpak. It looks easy to install and has a map for my combo of the slip ons and AC (when I install it) The Fuelpak is also reasonably priced at about $220.00 compared to Harleys SERT system, and it looks like the Thundermax needs to have O2 bungs welded in. I am looking for ease of installation also.
Anyone have any experience with the Fuelpak?
Pros, Cons?

I have the Arlen Ness Big Sucker (a high-flow a/c that lets me keep my outside football shell), the V&H Big Shots Staggard (BSS), and the V&H FuelPak to complete my stage-1 modification.

I didn't do this for the by-products of more horsepower and torque; but instead was primarily interested in getting a set of pipes that sounded better and routed below the passenger foot peg; and I wanted my bike to run cooler.

The increase in power and improved throttle response would make any throttle-jockey smile andwas instantly noticeable. After switching to synthetic oils in all three holes (engine, tranny, primary), I now claim there is NO heat issue for this big V-Twin.

The FuelPak is dialed-in for my set-up, but is not without quirks. I get decel pops and gurgle that just won't go away that most folks will say is normal. I agree and am no longer bothered by my bike's extra personality traits.

I have no issues on my 07 with 6th gear with the TMax. Everything works as it did stock. Again, heat is a non-issue.

Without stepping on any toes , first I agree the Tmax is top of the line. If you are not going to do much changing say only pipes and air cleaner and your budget may be tight, look at the TFI from Dobeck Performance. Easy install, inexpensive and leaves you with plenty of spare cash for an air cleaner. Others say the DFO is the same and basically is however the warranty is better through Dobeck VS Custom Chrome. Just my 2cents.

07 fxstc, I was amazed how well my bike ran with the canned map on the sert cd. Runs alot cooler and a very noticeable increase in power, milage did drop to low 40's, but with the way the bike runs Ican live with that.

The TunderMax Autotune sytem is the best thing on the market….PERIOD. It will improve the way a stock bike runs, contrary to what some people on here believe. Your bike will run better and cooler with this system in place of the stock HD computer. Yes, I said in place of. Most tuners just change signals from the stock computer by piggy-backing on them. This is a stand-alone system. It does not even use the stock narrow band O2 sensors….it uses wide-band O2’s. The difference is night and day. It gives the computer a ton more flexibility in tuning your bikes engine at all loads and all throttle positions and is capable of tuning for the addition of just about anything.

Check it out for yourselves:
http://www.thunder-max.com/Products/...ionModule.aspx[*]Easy Plug in Installation - No Mapping or Dyno Required![*]Fuel Injection Continually Tunes as You Ride[*]Increased Horse Power, Torque, and Fuel Economy[*]Increased Throttle Response[*]Improved Driveability[*]Lowers Engine Temperatures[*]Engine/Exhaust Specific Map Included[*]Minimizes Annoying Exhaust Popping[*]Adjustable Idle and RPM Limit

I would buy it just for the ability to adjust my idle and rev limit.

Great prices here---->http://stores.ebay.com/AMERICAN-CLASSIC-MOTORS
They have everything, too!
