Have a 09 RKC with Rush slip-ons. May add a K&N stock filter with stock air cleaner set-up. Do I need a tuner, re-map, TFI, vieds...HELP?
yes...anytime you change to a high performance type intake, you need something to add more fuel. reason being? these bikes come running a little lean from the factory and dont take much to lean them out to the point of causing heat damage.
Not needed just for that minor change. The bikes 02 sensors will adjust. That being said do listen for any pinging as that is a sign of a too lean condition. You may want to consider a good tuner like the Power Vision as that will allow you to tune your bike to run better than the factory is allowed to do and permit you to mod away without concern.

Some will tell you no, you do not need a tuner. The o2 sensors will compensate. I personally believe that you should run a tuner any time you modify both intake and exhaust with the bikes running so lean from the factory. The other thing I can tell you is I ran the canned "improved stock" tune in my Power Vision before I made any mods to the bike and it made a great improvement to the way the bike ran. I didn't notice a power improvement as much as much as the way the bike ran in general. It really smoothed out the power delivery, got rid of some of the low end lugging, and did seem to run a bit cooler. For that reason alone, I would recommend getting a tuner.
I ran with an SE intake and Rineharts for 10,000 miles without a tuner. Don't let anyone tell you that the stock ECM will adjust. Mine, and the wife's Tri rattled like a can of marbles, went into heat management mode in 85* temps at stop lights and were extremely hot. Gutted the cat and installed a Power Commander V. Much better power, throttle response, and heat reduction.
For 300 and 15 minutes for install, it just makes sense to get the fuel mixture right for the changes you make. these things are so lean stock that they could use a tuner if you do nothing else.

If you are just running the K&N stock replacement filter HD-1508 with the original backing plate you won't need a tuner. I've been running that filter with a set of Hookers Tuned Flow since new without any problems.
When using our smaller baffles sizes tuning is not always required. When upgrading both the exhaust and intake tuning will most likely be required and is strongly recommended. I would never upgrade both without tuning on my bike.

Yeah, but my cousin's sister's aunt's boyfriend's neighbor has a friend whose sister knows a girl who works in a bar where a guy from a Harley shop who washes bikes on the weekend works and he says you don't need a tuner if you change pipes and air cleaner. He must be right because otherwise they wouldn't let him work for HD, right? Yep, cabin fever is raging up here in the north. I agree, would never upgrade both without tuning ..... but that's just me and my bikes.
