When I start my '06 Deuce (FXSTDI) I hear a hissing noise. Used to be only intermittent, but now it's constant. Almost sounds like a leaky vaccuum line on a car, but I just don't know?? Any ideas??? Bike drives like nothings wrong?!
Someone is bound to chime in here that actually had this.... but if you do a search on here for it I believe there was a discussion about this and it turned out to be a line inside the tank on the fuel pump that was cracked open or had a hole in it. So the hiss is the pressure running thru the line.
I had a hissing noise coming from inside my tank when I would turn the RUN switch and the fuel pump would cycle.Turn out to be, as mentioned above, a hole in the fuel pick-up hose inside the tank. I mainly heard it before I started the bike, when the fuel pump cycled. Although I did hear it hissing while idling once. Took it in and the dealer fixed it under warranty, took them less than two hours on a Saturday.
Alright guys, thanks! Sounds like that what is going on. When I start the bike and the fuel pump cycles there is a loud hissing noise. I can now still hear it when my bike is running at idle. I guess I'll be breakin' out the service manual to figure out how to fix it. Thanks again!
If your bike is an 06, is it not still under warranty? Mine runs out in December. If so, let the dealer do if for free.
Glad you guys reminded me, my two year factory warranty expires tomorrow, Sept. 15th!! Talk about good luck and timing. She's been dropped off at the dealership now and they said that I should only have to pay a $50 deductible!
Got bike back today, it was a check valve assembly (62189-01A). Don't know if that is the same as the in-tank line or not, but it was fixed for free under warranty. Thank you guys for reminding me about my warranty, which happened to expire the day after I took it in, DUUUH!!
