I have 901 on the odometer of my 07 Deluxe. Will schedule the 1000 mile service this week. Other than the standard 1000 mile service, what "additional" service should I request? I appreciate your advice, been learnin' alot on this site!

I would not switch to sythentic in my motor until i hit at least two to three thousand miles. definitely not at one thousand
Why not? Modern engines are made to much closer (to spec) tollerances than in the bad old days. So they don't require nearly as long a break in period asused to be the "norm". 5 to 600 miles is generally more than enough to get the job done properly if its ridden with a bit of common sense.
I switched over to Syn3 at the 1K mark and a lot of others have as well with no ill effects. As something of a nut on maintenance I did mine again, switching over to Mobil 1 at the 3K mark just to make sure I got all the initail machining chips and junk out and will do it again when I hit 5K. But that's just me being a bit overprotective.
I had Amsoil synthetic changed into all three holes (engine, tranny, primary) at 1000 miles. My bike runs cooler than stock.
Everything on their "list" is in the owners manual, and could be done by the owner. Just keep your receipts for proof of service.
Unless you are completly comfortable with what you are doing, I think a good tech can spot things that a newbie might miss or not realize that it needs attention.
I let someone else do the service and check things for me.
I have yet to get the 1000 mile service being deployed and all. What all do they do? Can't do it all your self?
I would advise letting the stealer do the 1000 mile service. They check other things like belt, and primary chain tension. At 2500 miles my primary chain got a little loose. The dealer took care of it at no charge because I had them do the 1000 mile service. I have done all service myself since then.
I also made the switch to Synthetic at 1000, Right after, I switch the tranny over to Red Line heavy shock proof, No noise out of the tranny and shifts like a dream.. Good Stuff... Bike runs around 220 -230 now. Been rideing harleys for 35 years, but still let them do the first 1000 and 5000 service after that, I'll take care of it. I'm cautious of the new Warrenty Issues I've seen..
find out what oils they carry. My local dealer allows you to bring in brands they don't have like Mobile 1 or Amsoil. Head over to the oil area of the forum and read up to decide what you like. I like both Amsoil and Mobile 1 and don't like SYN3 or Dino oil. Also, some have mentioned loose spokes. I'd have them check them.
