The wife purchased a new Softail Deluxe yesterday. It was raining outside, so she made me ride it home while she drove the car. Sweet bike, though I felt a little cramped with the bikes geometry. Her bike is the new Deluxe color this year: Blue Suede Pearl and Vivid Black. It has the custom smooth laced wheels with factory alarm system. She had the classic engine guard installed. She wanted the short tinted detachable windshield installed, but the dealer had to order it in.
Springer at Harley Davidson of Seattle was an absolutely perfect sales person. He sold the bike to my wife, not to me. I ensured that they treated her as a first time buyer even though she has been riding with me for years. There was no requirement to negotiate price or financing.
I must say that I was supprised at the exhaust note of the stock exhuast on the '08 compared to my '06. I think the wife is going to try it for a while before considering any aftermarket exhaust, if at all.
I'll post pictures soon. It's still raining in Seattle and the bike is sitting dirty in the garage. I'll probably get it out and wash it in the rain today so I can put her away clean.
The Deluxe is the best of the Softails in my opinion and the perfect choice for women especially, given the lowest seat height and well balanced. I sat on a friends Fat Boy recently and I thought it was so uncomfortable. My husband ("07 Ultra) and I just got back from a 500 mile, one night turnaround to Death Valley, beautiful riding conditions this time of year, so a passed the 11K on my '06 Deluxe with this trip. Your wife will love her Deluxe!
