Default Chrome Switch Housing Kit

Has anyone done these on their bikes? I have a '06 FB and would like to do get itbut am unsure how involved it is. The Harley catalog says there is no rewiring for the swith housing kit. Any info or opinionsare appreciated. Thanks!

They are not that hard to put on. The biggest is bleeding the front brakes. Removing the switches and reinstalling them is not hard at all, if I remember it is only one screw.

The one thing that will get you in trouble is the stupid little brass ends on the throttle and idle cables.
Once you open the right hand switch housing up they tend to fall out and take a powder on you.
The cleverest idea I have heard for keeping track of them is to hang some kind of basket or bucket from the grip as your taking it apart. That way if, and when they do fall out they can't bounce off to never-never land on you.

What Citori says. I just spent a lovely 2 days changing out my handlebars. One of the turn of events was searching for the brass throttle stop that Citori mentionedfor throttle cable, it is about the size of a drop of water. Spent about an hour looking for it, can't see worth a sh$t so there you go. Found it inside the plastic cover over what I believe is the voltage regulator at center bottom of downtubes. I was looking on the floor. Just don't drop it, it can easily vanish.

Sorry to change subject. Changing out the switches is as simple as they say. I believe it is covered in the manual. Get someone w/06 manual to fax the page or two too ya if don't have the manual.

Thanks for the replies guys! You lost me at "bleeding the brakes" though -this is beyond my skill level. I can put on pretty covers and that's about it. I was figuring it was taking some clamshell covers off and putting on new ones. I think when I get my forks done, I'll have the wrench throw on that housing too.

Its not that hard to do, just takes a little patience and common sense.
Having a copy of the manual sure wouldn't hurt any that's for sure.
And if you don't have a copy already, get one.
It's got to be right on top of the list of best thingsyou can spend moneyon for your bike.

No biggie, but be careful with the switches (if you're gonna replace the stock ones for chromed ones) they are more fragile, they break easily if you're not patient.

The other thing is the master cilinder cap's torque, if you go too far it will leak.

Mimo.

Not to steal the thread, but mimo, have you had trouble with your grips? My outside rubber rings got soft and are falling apart, and of course, they don't make a replacement for them...you have to replace the grip.

Don't I know it. Somewhat counter-intuitive on the surface to think the less tight things are the better the seal. For a while I thought I had too much fluid in there. Then I realized I was just stupid.....or too strong maybe. Yeah, too strong. I like that one better.
