I got an Arlen Ness Big Shot aka TFI 1440st about 3 weeks ago. My bike cooled down about 40 degrees (runs about 220 now) even when it's hot weather. I also have the K&N air Filter kit.

Putting synthetic oil into the bike is going help a lot, but as you state, you are not done yet.

Until you richen-up the air/fuel mixture, you are not going to cool off by simply adding (only) some more air which really won't get "in" because you are still restricting the exhaust by staying stock back there (so you are not increasing the flow through the motor).

You have to richen the mixture (with a fuel computer)AND let the motor breathe easier by opening up intake and the exhaust. You're fine with the K&N, but now you need some kind of exhaust mod andthen thefuel computer.

You can lookat any added performance by acheiving Stage 1 modification as accidental, with the true result of a cooler running bike.

FuelPak, Power Commander III (a.k.a. PCIII), SERT (a Harley product), ThunderMax, or Daytona Twin Scan II are among your choices for a fuel cpu's.

My experience is with the V&H FuelPak, but I am saving my pennies for a ThunderMax with wideband sensors and auto tune.

I put in the 330 ohm resistors in place of the o2 sensors and it run the stock ecm in the open loop with no errors. I took a trip to the Arkansas mountains and I could run in 6th gear up hill and I averaged 40 to 50 mpg with a 51.6 best and a 38 worst. Cost me 99 cents at Radio Shack. I am saving up for the Thundermax but in the mean time it works great and I can even touch the engine after an hour of riding.[/align]
