Having a bit of an issue adjusting the preload on my progressive 422's,when using the tool provided and after undoing the locknutthe whole body of the shock turns when I try to adjust them...is that right or should I be trying to lock up the body of the unit somehow?,not really sure when they are fully adjusted in either direction, the destructions say turn anti-clockwise to increase preload,my dealer says clockwise,am I supposed to lock a spanner(wrench) onto the fixed nut on the threaded shaft when adjusting? HELP!!!!
Yes the shock body turns, but not the shaft. From the top of the shock (looking to the rear of the bike) turn clockwise to soften the preload, counter clockwise to firm up the ride.
When I installed mine I firmed up the preload (counter **** wise)by one turn over the stock setting and really like the ride, Im 210lb and ride solo 90% of the time. It has never bottomed out and is not to firm, no hop and tracks well.
