Default Turn signal relocation question

Sorry if this has been posted before, but I couldn't find one. I bought the relocation kit for my 07' softie, that mount on the lower tree, and it mentions unplug the harness for the directionals. How in the he!! do you get to them. Do I have to remove the tank (which I don't want to do) or take the easy way out and cut and solder the wires? Any pointers will be appreciated.

Thanks

I just did handlebars on 07 fatty. You do not have to take the tank off just splice, would be easier and cleaner jobthough to just move tank back vs removing it. Just have to slide the tank back. Pull fuse for fuel pump and start bike, when stalls crank it 3 times or so to get all fuel out of line then pull down on chrome piece for fuel supply out of bottom of tank on left rear of tank. Take out front bolt on tank and rear under seat which is already removed. Take off console but discnnect wiring before hanging it on handlebars.Pull off vent on tank and begin sliding back. There is a plastic/rubber boot on frame at neck which protects wiring harnesses. Take it off and the signal harness is the black connector w/6 wires on right (wires are 2 blue, 2 black and 2 purple, 1 for each side). Takes about 30 minutes first time. Just slide tank back enough till get to the signal connector, it is about 3-4 inches back in there. If you do it just take your time.

Just the way I did it and to remove any liability I may have on this, consult your service manual, don't have one get one

Anyway Geek, if it was me in your shoes I would slide the tank back, It will be much easier than splicing and look cleaner/better. Splice and chances are you will see the splices.

I'm not sure why they tell you to do that for ALL Softails. On my Custom it was a simple matter of unbolting thesignals and taking the wires out of the bundle. Moving everything down to where I wanted them and zip tying up the extra wire.
No unpluging wires or moving of the tank at all.
Nowif your softyis a Fatboy or Heratige it "may" need to be done a little differently. I haven't personally seen how it needs to be done on one of them so I can't be sure.
