Default Paying MSRP

I am going to be buying my first harley soon but the dealers that i have been to seem to be asking above MSRP. How should i bargin the price down or should i just find a dealer that will sell it for MSRP?

Also should all harleys be sold for MSRP including the screamin eagle CVO models?

thanks

If it was me, I would go look around. There has to another dealer around who wants your business.

I went to another dealer that was far away and got 500 below msrp and free 1000 mile checkup and free windshield. You have to just shop around and also either demo ride or rent before you buy so you get the right bike.

I'm not sure where you are located, but if you look around, you will find several dealers that are will to negotiate price. Harley has overproduced and demand is down. The market's in you favor.

Good Luck.

Yep - it's becoming more and more a buyers market. If they won't budge on MSRP, try a"credit" (chrome, pipes, seat, accessories, service, etc.). A $1,000 to you translates more like $500.00 or less in costs to them. The bike market is saturated and obviously its a slow time. End of month or end of year might be the best time.

Just got a sale flyer for nearby dealer 2K off 08 Dyna's and Softails, 1K off Sportsters Most dealers around here will offer MSRP on Touring models not really much of a need to discount since even the used ones are commanding a pretty high price.

Okay here's what I did.

Go to the dealer you want to buy from (probably the closet to you) get a price.
Then go to several dealers and get an out the door price from several dealers hopefully one your local dealer hates,
tell them where your from and who you talking to and get their price in writting
then take it back to your dealer
and if he hates them the way he hated the dealership I went to, he'll match their price.

It saved me $300.

Having been in the car selling biz, I know that there are all sorts of factors that will allow you to get a good deal. I paid $1,000.00 below MSRP for my 07 Fat Boy, plus a $100.00 gift certificate which is probably only $50.00 out of their pocket. Several reasons why. I bought an 07 at the end of 07. I also bought in the slower fall/winter season. If you live in So. Cal, Florida, etc. it won't make a difference, but in WA state it does. I also bought a red one, which isn't as popular as black or some of the darker colors. I also went to 4 different dealers, and played them against each other. For example, I'd find a special at one, go to another, mention the special, ask if they could beat it, get that price, go to another, etc, etc.

It's your hard earned money, don't be afraid to ask.
