99 HERITAGE SPRINGER
I just bought the bike last night and need a little info. This is my first springer,is there anything I should look out for on the bike?It is in excellent cond with only 12k miles.I have had other Harleys but nothing like this.Any info you have would be appreciated .Thanks .
Seems I remember they have some extensive maintenance requirements due at 10k intervals. Extensive being a relative term compared to a hydraulic front end.
I picked her last night.Everything seems to be in order. The previous owner took good care of her.The only thing I have a question about is uneven tire wear in the front. The left side seems good, but the right side of the tire has more wear and some "cupping".Is this common with a springer or is some adjustment necessary.
Does not seem normal. I would run it down to the HD shop and have them give the whole bike a once over. Find out from previous owner if he had the work done or if he did it himself. If he had the HD boys do it, take it to the same shop. The mechs there will know the bike and possibly provide some insight on it's history. Either way, you'll have the peace of mind after words of knowing what's going on with your ride.

Sounds like one side of the forks is a little "soft", causing excessive movement. However, I'm no motorhead. Like Mac said, I'd run it to the Harley shop and have them look at it.
Personally, if I had just bought a used ride to save some money, I would use some of the money that I had saved and take it to the Harley mechanic and have him give it the once-over. It never hurts to be safe and this way the problem might get fixed before it possibly got worse.

I forgot one thing, If the heritage looks as good as I think that it does, it will draw a lot of people over to look at it. Before you sit down and start riding, you might want to check the seat out for drool. If you sat down on that seat and slipped off, it would definitely be embarrassing. Just thought that it would help
