Truth be told, I think the fatboy is an awesome looking bike. But if I were to buy one, I would want a detachable windshield, some good bags. Possible luggage rack. Oh and the stock seat is way too wide for my taste. So I figure, I may as well just purchase a heritage.Comes stock witheverything that I would just end up adding to the fatboy.
I had a 03 fat boy fast, lowered and bad *** I got compliments everywhere I went with it, however as I have gotten older and my riding style has changed I went ahead and sold it (20k) had no choice but to sell itand got me a street glide that it has the great features and comfort and definetly the looks it is not an old mans bike but a great cruiser with lots of potential.....

I was always a softail fan, and test rode a few of the other models. I liked the fatboy the best.
For me it is comfy on longer trips as well cruising around town. I don't plan on getting anything different for quite some time. Very happy with it. Good luck on your decision.
calling eveyone that owns one of these great machines ...how do you like them..? ...how do they handle compared to the others being they have the thicker tire on the front..? saw one today at the dealership two tone copper and black chrome lots of it it was beautiful....so beautiful I maybe getting a divorce over it...JK opinions please
Hard to add to what others have been saying; except I own one you saw.
My Fatboy is a 105yr Anniversary limited edition. Mine is number 222 of 4000 to be made with the copper & black. (You can only get these colors when you buy the anniversary model).
It is a kin to a freight train on rails. Very stable, pulls hard, and won't let you off. I bought mine this past July (16th), and I'm coming up on 6,000 miles.
Thats it, great looking bike...the one I saw had chromed upgrade wheels on also....hey if in the future you ever feel like selling give me a PM...cause I didn't win the lottery
i am picking up my 2008 black fatboy in 4 days ....i havent test ridden it, i have bought leds, windscreen, back rest, deluxe running lights, and rush slip on mufflers....
i didnt need a test ride...this IS the bike for me..i like the solid wheels, large rear tire, this bike oozes cool, and i reckon itfits my personality welland what theheck, ifi want to tour...i will buy what i need
to tour on this bike
now i just got to figure out how to keep busy over the next four days!!!...where the heck is the PS3
I think it would be an excellentchoice for anyone who doesn't want or like the"extras" on a Heritage or any of the bigger baggers.
But still wants the option (with a windshield and a good set of bags) togo the distance or just leave it alone andbomb aroundfor the day.
I traded in my 2000 Sporty 883 for my current 06 Heritage FLSTI. The 06 FLSTI was a one year model - essentially a mix between a Fatboy andastripped down Heritage so it did not come with the studded seat and bags, windshield or auxilliary lamps. I am able to customize it without having to work around an existing theme (like with the Heritage Classic).
Going from a Sporty to a Fatboy is like moving from a wooden stool to a recliner. You sit ON the Sporty - you sit IN the softail.
My passengers reckon my backseat is really comfortable!!

I just bought my first bike a couple weeks ago after taking lessons and I knew it was going to be a FatBoy. My husband hasrode a motorcycle, but my daughter and I had never so we took lessons and bought us some bikes also. We are in MO and don't have many days to ride this time of year, but I was able to takemy daughterfor her first ride after work last night. I have always liked them and someone found me a 2002 that I absolutely love.
I dont get the vibration from the engine after changing the oil to Amsol and the trasns to bel ray gear saver. Also now that there is 6th gear that is no longer a problem. 75 is smooth as can be.
I 2nd the Amsoil! I have put that stuff in my car, lawnmower, motorcycle, and even our ambulance (Iowa Speedway Ambulance) and I could really truthfully tell that there were less vibrations and less engine noise! Great stuff, I run in my car all year long with an annual oil drain. I really noticed the difference in the motorcycle, year it was a sport bike but it reved smoother and shifted easier after the switch, plus not as course vibrations. sorry to get off topic.
