I put these RUSH slip fitswith 1.75 baffles on 800 miles ago and now there is a deafening resonance I cant ride with the windshield on w/o ear plugs. I like the sound overall and have been told it sounds good from off the bike but in the mid range RPM's its killin me.
Maybe an exaust leak I dont know. Its a drum beat right in the pain range...WTF.
I could take the windshield off but its 34 deg right now. Anyone else with the FLSTC getting this? I'll try new clamps on the mufflers...do the 1.5 or 2.0's have this problem? Thanks.
I had the same trouble with my Harley shield.
The sound really whips up underneath with the wind.
and you think your's is bad, I had the 2 1/4" baffles.
It wasn't at the pain level, but it was loud if I had to gas it any, like going up hills.
I changed to a sport shield (El Paso) by Memphis Shades and the exhaust sound is no problem.
Becausenow I have a lot of just straight wind noise in my ears.
Dito here.. My rush to loud. I will change to the 1.5 baffles..I replaced my windshield with a 15 inch memphas shades ... dunno if that helped, winter and snow here now for good . It ticks me off tha tno one will make slip on's that sound good and are not to loud. I also have the 1.75 baffles from rush.
Guess I'll find out myself. Wish I read this chit the other day before I ordered my 1.75s. I didn't get the 1.50s because I read that they're not much, if any, quieter. They just have a tinny sound which I don't want.
I guess when Voyager1 puts his on, he'll have his own opinion on that. I agree with him that it seems there is no happy medium with these things.
So maybe I'll have some slightly used 1.75s for sale soon.
Dunnno.... Sometimes i love the sound of my pipes. other times . I wish i had quiet.... Quiet like stock is far to quiet.... Mine is not as loud as some , i belive my bags stop some of the sound . I wish i had some of the newer SE pipes to try for a week or 2 . Some people really like them .. Trotter seem to like his . { sigh} ..As i look out my window at this dang snow.. [:@]On the plus side i bought me a new toy : A Simplicity snow blower to be delivered today ... I have had enough shoveling !! Push button start too, LOL . 8.5 H.P. Briggs.
UPS just delivered my 1.75s from cyclespot. Can't believe normal delivery was only 2 days. I can't believe how open the pipes are.Guess that's what they mean by 1.75. That's how big the hole is. The stock pipes have NO hole. You can't see through them. So I can only imagine what these are going to sound like compared to those.
If you want pipes that are a little louder than stock and still let you ride withno ear plugs, try the SE HD street performance slip on's.
Yeah, I probably should have waited until I heard them for myself instead of taking everyones advise on how they weren't "much" louder than stock...hell even the dealer talked me out of them. The problem is everyone has their own opinion on what loud or quiet is. I guess thats a good thing...
Its not so much these RUSH are that loud... its just a certain frequency range that is annoying the hell out of me. It has definitly gotten worse with a few hundred miles on.

Be interested to hear how you like them both out of the box and after a few hundred miles.
