After getting my front end chromed, I came to realize my stock handlebars are not really chromed and the yellow tint really stands out.
I am going to change out my handlebars and was thinking of going with 14 inch chubbies.
15 and 16s just seem a little too high.
Any comments.
how do the bkes handle with Apes?
I have 12.5 inch chubbies on mine on the stock risers which are what? 1 inch I think.... something like that. I luv 'em... beefy bars to match the fat front end and just the right height. My arms never get tired on long rides. Handling wise? don't really notice anything different with then except on slow sharp turns... outside arm get's a bit stretched but that's how I have them setup I am sure.
Once you become acquainted with the apes it is easier to turn in my opinion as they require less input than shorter bars. I have 16" wild 1's. I had shorter apes when I first got my bike but tried a friends bike with 18"'s and decided to move to 16's. I find it perfect for me. I could ride all day if I wanted to . Plus, they look bitchin'.

thought...powdercoat the stock bars if you like. Chrome and gloss black powdercoat looks awesome, great contrast.
I've ridden my bike w/ 14" apes with 2" riser. I have also ridden my husband's deluxe with 16" apes. Now, I've had my license just over a year now, and I was very nervous about riding w/ apes, mostly the turning fear.
I rode the 14" ones first and loved them. I can ride the 16" apes as well with no problems. Both give excellent rides and I no longer get that knot in the back of my neck either!!
Check out this thread for more ape opinions. CNC Wheel guy is my hubby, black Deluxe.
