hey guys, just a quick question. I noticed on my way home from pickin up my new scoot that the headlight seems to vibrate a lot more than my sportster one did. it seems quite a bit shaky. I noticed the same thing on a few bikes that I pass but never thought much of it, now i guess it's just a question to me of is it supposed to do that as a safety feature so its more noticeable or is something off? thanks in advance!
Three soft rubber mounts in there. If you want it more solid you will need to replace the rubber mounts with solid spacers. Personally, Ithinkit works as a safety feature and gets noticed more on the highway,so I'm leaving it the way it is. I don't ride all that much at night anyway. Too many critters. Ron
It does get kinda annoying after a while. I was gonna leave it alone, but at some point, I'm gonna get it to where it doesn't shake. One thing I've noticed is that after a while, my headlight will wind up pointing at the ground so I can't see anything in front of me. I checked and it's mounted on there tight. It just shakes so much that it slowly moves itself down after a while.
I used to have the problem with it pointing down after a while too. Even with the nut and bolt tight as could be you could move it up and down without too much effort. I solved that problem by putting a 3/8" star washer on the inside of the bracket where the bolt goes through. It has stayed where I put it since I did that, probably three months ago. It should come like that from the factory. Just make sure you do it on the inside so it's between the inner bracket on the light and the outter that is on the triple clamp. If you just did it under the nut it wouldn't do anything.
