Default attn. Mega...HELP!!!

after spending hours searching all around these threads, for info. you really seem to know what you're talking about. i have an 06 nighttrain efi. if i only plan on adding an air cleaner, and ex.pipes is the se air cleaner a good choice? is there a better one? i like the v&h big shot staggered, what is your opinion on those? is there better? what kind of pipes do you run? the dealer says i need the hd remap, i've read here about the power comander, what should i do? i want my bike to "move" when i want it to, in all gears...stock is toooo slow. thank you in advance for your advice. why arent there any pictures of your bike posted?

For the AC this is a good link on this website: https://www.hdforums.com/m_174418/tm.htm and should be fine for a mild bolt-on parts build. If you like the V&H Big shot staggered they will be fine too. They arent a true performance exhaust, but they will improve performance over the stock pipes significantly still.

Another good way to gain an increase in increaed acceleration is to change your stock 3.15 primary gearing to the old 3.37 setup.

Parts to swap for 3.37:

clutch basket 37t- 37846-99a
countershaft sprocket 24t- 40269-85a

You can sell off the old(new takeoff)parts on Ebay and gain back most of your money. This gearing will allow the bike to accelerate much better, and still give you decent highway cruising rpms with a 5 speed.

Dont like, remaps, waste of money, better off with s SERT or PCIII.

No pics of my hopper because its in pieces.

Because "downloads" cost them practically NOTHING. Its 100% pure profit. And you pay them $150 every time you want to make a change to the bike. Get a SERT. Make as many changes as you want, plenty of good base maps to work with too. If your gonna do 2:1 look at Bassani or Supertrapp pipes, they perform the best.

Mega,

I couldn't agree with you more in reference to the download and SERT. I've been preaching this here for a long time. It seems like some people just can't believe that harley would sell them something that didn't work. I also like that a motorhead like you would recommend simple upgrades that aren't going to cost the average rider an arm and a leg. I would love to have a bike that would peg over 100 hp but the average rider just wants something that runs decent and will eat a stock bike for lunch. I am interested in having my heads done some time in the near future. I know how important this is when you already have quite a few mods on your bike. If I was buying another CVO I would have the heads done before I picked it up.

Hey Terry, I try to be down to earth and look at the big picture on "mods" for the bike. I try to take an honest and take an individual approach to each forum member's own PERSONAL preferences. I will try and push another member in a different direction if I feel they have a potential "substandard" part in their equation, but overall "try" to keep an open "atitude" if the part is not part of my exclusive "recommended" list.

My own bikes range from very mild to wild, all have their fun strong points. If the bike isnt going to be a big wideband powerhouse, then I try and concentrate on mod recommendations that will maximise the users powerband he will normally ride it.

As you probably noticed from past posts, I am pretty picky on exhaust pipes, and keeping the engine internals as clean as possible, and cam/head/compression combinations, and tuning, and tuning aids, and intakes, and meticulous headwork, and cooling, and proper gearing, and..............
