I bought an '07 Ultra Classic in October and really love it. Recently I saw an '06 Softail Deluxe at my dealer. Two tone, white/blue with fishtail pipe, xtra chrome, etc. One beautiful bike! Gotta' love laced wheels and wide whites. I really wasn't looking for another bike until I saw this jewel. No time for a test ride....probably not until the weekend. But I would love some feedback from those in- the- know about this bike. I am most interested to find out about any issues there might be. I know these run hot like the Ultra, but is there anything else I should be concerned about?
I am a little apprehensive about a rigid mount and a "harsh" ride....is this a big deal?
Anyway, your thoughts would be appreciated. This might be the best "retro" bike on the road!
Keep the Ultra for when you feel like taking it for whatever reason. Buy the Deluxe, since it is a kick but bike!
I love my Deluxe (sig) and love my Streetglide, different reasons for each bike, but love them both and put miles on both!
Best thing to do is test ride the bike, see if its right for you, Me being vertically challenged/ 5'-6",the Deluxewas the way to go for me.I may be biased when Isay this butI think the Deluxe untouched stock/just off the show room floor is the coolest looking bike in today's Harley line up.
Useless mirrors at 70?? Myth, mine still work perfect at 85-90.
Btw, the Ultra stays home even on the cross-country 700 mile/day trips. Now that I have the Springer's it never get's ridden. I will sell it this Spring. Won't miss something I don't use or need.
Here's the lame steed which collects dust.
Dang Nails thats a good lookN girl you have there man. I don't kno if I could part with her!
Theres only one thing about my 06 Deluxe that I sort of don't like and that is, it sits so low to the ground until if you're on a really curvy road and you're doing those curves at high speeds the footboards scrape way too much. The faster you go the lower the bike seems to get. The bike is so well balanced, they just glide around really sharp curves, they don't slide in the turns, and I like that! My wife says Im to old to be speeding around curves, but with this bike its so very easy.
I love my Deluxe, best looking bike anywhere in my opinion. It is very well balanced, rides and handles like a dream. I really do want to get an Ultra for two up and longer rides. The Deluxe is not a touring bike. I can see myself with both with the Deluxe getting 80% of the ride time. But the 20% with the Ultra would be grrrrreat! One more thing, I love the Black tires on my Deluxe, especially the not cleaning part!!
