Looking for ideas to ease some shoulder, back pain when going for long rides - changing bars is one option ( I have wide chubbies ) but would like to hear other peoples experiences if they have fitted a backrest and can be easily taken off for the short hops.cheers

I presume that after you fitted the back strain went. My problemis on right side stemming from wide chubbies and throttle.... iehaving to keep my right arm on the throttle at a very unergonomic position.don't want to change the bars ( cost , hassle and no guarantee that it will work) so thinking that a backrest maybe the ticket to ride comfortably.

I have lower back problems due to the early stages of a L4 & L5 fusing. I have a Corbin 2-up seat, which uses the HD passenger backrest, and a Corbin driver backrest. I LOVE THIS SEAT!!! It was one of the defining factors, when I purchased my Heritage. This seat is great, if you have back / shoulder problems. The driver's backrestcan be installedwith the 1 mounting screw, which takes roughly3-5 mins to remove... or run the risk of the backrest being stolen, and justuse the backrest with no screw installed. It willslidein and out easily. This seat is a bit pricey, but WELL WORTH the investment. Many of myfriends have toldme the seat feelsreally hard, but it does have the memory foam and gel inside. It forms to your butt, once you are on the road. Let me know if you have any questions. I have added some pics here, with the backrest's on & off. Hope this helps!!
thankseveryone. I was interested in not changing the stk seat as I didn't see that as the problem so i will have a good look at the fire house site.
Texas - I assume that is that the Fire House custom on your bike. is it easy to take off. Ideally i don;t want it on for the short hops. Otherwise I might as well completely transform the bike similar to yours and get the mustash bars , highway peg combo.
thanks again ... other pics welcome.
My wife couldn't ride her Softail Deluxe for very long without her back killing her. I finally got her to try a Mustang Solo with backrest. She didn't want to give up the deluxe seat and rail. Now she's glad she did. About the first long ride she took was over 500 miles the first day. She was tired but wouldn't have made it without the backrest.
