I couldn't ride very long without a driver's backrest.
It's the only way I can enjoy riding.
Are you looking for one to work with your stock seat?
If so try aFire House Customs
I'm with Texas Fat Boy ... I put the Fire House Custom on my Heritage as well and I love it. Here's a picture from a ride in November to Valley of Fire north of Vegas. You can see the backrest with my Nelson-Rigg pack behind it (between rider and passnenger backrest).
The Fire House is easy to install (literally takes less than 10 minutes even for someone with no mechanical ability) and it comes off just as easily. On past bikes I've had the expensive after market seats by Ultimate and Mustang. They are both great seats and the backrest are well worth it, but if you don't think you need the seating portion replaced then don't buy a $900 seat just to get the $150 backrest. For my money the Heritage seat is decent, so with the Fire House and a gel pad I'm just as comfortable as on more expensive custom seats.
I don't have a back rest on my bike but my wife has one on her's and she loves it with her bad back. Back support is a must for long rides as well as kidney support! I stack my bags behind me on long trips to "form" a back rest and wear one of those stretchy kidney belts you see the people at Home Depot wear. We can ride all day without back or shoulder pain.
thankseveryone. I was interested in not changing the stk seat as I didn't see that as the problem so i will have a good look at the fire house site.
Texas - I assume that is that the Fire House custom on your bike. is it easy to take off. Ideally i don;t want it on for the short hops. Otherwise I might as well completely transform the bike similar to yours and get the mustash bars , highway peg combo.
thanks again ... other pics welcome.
That picture of the Heritage is from their web site.
I had one for a brief while for my stock seat and it is as easy taking off as the seat is to take off.
The one for the Fat Boy used the two bolt holes that were on the back of the stock seat.
I'm not sure how your seat mounts on.
No it is not adjustable
No it does not hinge/lean forward to help the passenegr get on
I have the firehouse customs on mine. I rode 14hrs stopping only for fuel and food I know I could'nt have done it with-out it. BTW I won't dothat again, getting too old for that kind of stuipid stuff.
Opiate based pain killers! They will kill your back pain and make you a much nice person! Seriously, check your riding posture. Your problem may not be the need of a back rest, rather a bar adjustment or foot control relocation, etc....
