My Sons bought me a "rider backrest" for my '03 FLHTCUI.....I love it! Strangley....the ride is quite different...seems to manuver more agressively! Turns are quicker!
Am I a whack job? or can someone agree with this statement....above?
Same feeling here. It seems to me i feel more a part of my bike. Maybe its just there is more contact. Not sure what it is but i took mine off one time to accomodate a gal and after the ride i didnt put it back on for a bit. WTF was i thinking, now it is on all the time.
Yep, I really like mine. I don't lean back on it so much as it just sort of "places" me on the seat. I suppose it just encourages me to sit with better posture and not slump so much. Seems to relax my arms quite a bit.

Aside from stabilizing your mid-section, it also moves you slightly forward (in many cases). You might have had some sloppy body position on turn-in that the back rest if forcing you to correct.
It's amazing what a slight lean forward (not to mention leaning INto the turn) can do for handling.
Most deffinately. I have felt the same way. I have had back rests on all my bikes and have gotten the same sensation with all of them, 97 RK, 01 RG, 03 RG and 05 RG. Once I rode with one I have never rode without since.
back fusion, 4 rods and 6 screws. couldn't ride without it, was good for 30-45 min ride on my sporty. It makes my bike as comfy as a recliner. My son calls the glide my (Motorized wheelchair) But, that will be my next ride!
