Trying to install HD smart securitu system on 07 Fatboy. Got the nice new kit. It comes with Security module, Antenna (with cable) and mounting bracket. Unfortunately no installation/test manual.
Perhaps you have a page from HD electrical manual ?
1. Am I right to assume that antenna mounts on the top of fuse box ? Clip seems very similar to the one on the bracket. (see pic.)
2. How do you attach the fob ?
3.Could findno cable for the siren. How does it connect ?
All I did on my 06 FXST is take the splash guard off the rear tire weld. If I remember, it's just a couple ofbolts. The module snaps in and has a prewired cable plug that you connect to. Then I ran my wire up to the fuse box and used the velcro provided to put the wire between it. That's it. Make sure you use your old security fob, you need to alarm it first with that, then use your pager to turn it on.
Install is very easy (20 mins) the siren plug is latched in facing forward above the alarm system.
Get a manual, it has good pictures but is pretty vague. The tricky part is marrying the TCCM to the ECM to get the bike to run. Then the security system won't work until a dealer activates the fob's to the system. There are several procedures that address activation of the fob's but I believe they are for the older style push button ones. I could not find anything that would work.
My dealer also told me I had to have them activate the darn things.
Hope this helps.
I just scanned the instructions I got with my security system. Mine was on a 06 FLSTCI.The forum will not let me paste this as an attachment. The file is a PDF and 6.8MB I put it up on my server and you can download the file here. Security System Instructions
thanks a lot for the scan.I installedsiren on my 02 fatboy a year ago. It looked exactly like on this manual. However on 07 it is a bit different.Must check again in the garage. Will try to post pictures this evening.
Still question remains - is there any way to attach the fob without dealer?
Yes, i meant programming the fob.I have manual for programming the old type fob (one with a button). New one has no buttons. jkelley mentioned that old manual does not work.
I just read the manual for the 07 Sportster and it says:
Hands-free Fobs are electronically assigned to the Harley-Davidson Smart Security System by a Harley Davidson dealer so that the module can recognize the fob's unique signal. Only two fobs can be assigned to the module at any one time.
Replacement fobs can be purchased from the dealership but can only be assigned to the motorcycle by a trained Harley Davidson technician.
I would think that the fob may already be programmed when you bought the system and if not I bet the dealer where you bought it would program it at no charge. I think it is just a matter of you taking the fob to the dealer so they can program the serial number into the system.
