The vibration is only on acceleration and ANY time I accelerateI feel the vibration. I can ride it for an hour or two but to put it on the road all day would be misery. As a test, I covered the foot pegs with foam pipe insulation and that took about half the preceived vibration away, its is at least tolerable now. I have purchased new foam rubber grips but haven't had a chance to put them on yet.
I know the vibration is pure engine related. I have an old spin balancer motor for a car and I used it to spin up the wheels--no problem, no hop, nothing.
I'm just about at the end of my rope with this thing. Have been thinking of trading the thing for a standard Vtwin without the counter balancers in it. May be time for an after market engine, as much as I would hate to do it.
No such thing as totally smooth B motor as the higher they rev the less the balancers can take care of it. Most of the time it's within a riders range of acceptance and produces no bitching. In your case it would seem it may be beyond acceptable limits for it's design. Several things will cause this and it's a process of elimination with a good tech. It could be uneven compressions between cylinders,or power is not equal between them from bad tuning, defective compensator function, timing on the balancers themselves may be off and the flywheels have shifted . Flywheel shifting will cause vibes from two sources, as in the wheels themselves not running true and the primary sprocket not running true. Unfortunately HD has increase the runout limit to .012 so unless you can find a way to exceed this you will have to tolerate a shaker or find a way to exceed this, let the oil pump explode and get a new engine Ron
Have your dealer take the cam plate off and check the crank run out on the pinion gear. My 07 didn't shake all that bad but the crank runout was off the charts. I got a new motor from the MoCo.Don't believe the ride it till it breaks crap.
My 07 FXSTC is very smooth in all gears and speeds. Are you shifting to soon and lugging the motor?
I'm sure the dealer would test drive it if you went in with a warrenty claim. I smell TROLL.[sm=icon_stickpoke.gif]
"I have taken it to 3 dealers and get the SOS, "ride it till it breaks". They all say there is "something wrong" but none of the dealers will tear it down under warranty."
So 3 dealers admit there is something wrong but won't try to fix it??
