Default Apes, Now!

I´ve decided to put ape hangers on my bike, I´m tired of the beach bars, so far this is my best choice, does anyone has ´em installed on your ride??? I need 1.5" thick, the same as my current bars I don´t want to go back to narrower risers...

What do you think? I´m 6´3" should I get 16" or 18" apes, does the rider´s height has anything to do with it???

Any advice will be appreciated,

Mimo.

I would think no shorter than 16's. I am 6'0" and I have 12.5's but could comfortably ride with 16's. I may change eventually. I think 16 is a good compromise between aggressive and over the top. JMHO.

Thanks Warg, I´m in the need to straighten my back on the riding position and I´think apes are the ultimate measure to get that done...

I liked the look of the new Cross Bones but last weekend I went to the dealer´s and sat on the damn thing... That bike is comfortable... the bars have much to do with it... I want one BTW, I may be getting it by this year´s end, either keeping the Fat Boy or sellin´ it is a big ????? so far,

Take care Warg,

Mimo.

Yeah - how are apes for long-distance riding? I've wondered about he change myself. Anyone have any experience? Any stress in the upper body?

A general rule is they should put your hands at the same height as your shoulders, if higher some have complained about numb hands(circulation problems). Remove the bandelaros, the weight may have something to do with the back problems!

I think at 6'3" you should be able to go with 18's no problem . I am 6'0 and have 16's , there are times I could go either 16 or 18 . I have a couple seats and on my stocker Fatboy seat 18 and on my low profile 16's are perfect .

Hey Mimo, I went with 13' with 1 1/2 " risers. But I'm only 5'5".
I think you would want 18" with your height.
By the way, I really love them. Very comfortable. Just my 2 cents......

I have those bars on my bike . I'm 6'1 and the 16"s are just above my shoulder with 1" risers and a bare bones seat .

I had 12s on my Dyna with 4 inch risers. They were about right. You also have to check how wide you want them. If they are wide, 18s may be too much. Fat bars are no0rmally wider than inchers.
