Did I turn my deluxe into a heritage by adding bags a back rest and windshield?. No I likes the little details and whitewalls of a deluxe. There are differnces between the fatboy loaded up like a heritage and a heritage.
Chunks ,
Looks like you have the quick detach for your windshield , got them on your fender strut also ? Maybe for a quick detach sissy bar and bags ? Just out of curiosity did you learn the hard way ? By the way I very much perfer FB over the Heritage but thats just my taste . Now that I think about it a little more , a good reason for buying a FB and adding the touring stuff is : in my mamy trips to different HD dealers I've only seen 1 or 2 Heritages as compared to probably a hundred or more Fat Boys .
Dan
Detachable windshield? Yes. I only use the windshield in very cold weather or if I'm gonna be on the highway for a long stretch.
The rest of the time I prefer no windshield.
No detach mounts on my fender strut.
Sissy bar is fixed mount and I wont ever put saddle bags on the bike because I personally dont care for the look.
For road trips I have a bag that slips over the backrest/sissy bar but I dont use it very often.
I didnt learn the hard way. I knew what I wanted before I got the bike and set it up just like that and have had
no second thoughts on the matter
Jeez, Chris, You really stirred one up here. I love it! Ask a simple question and get a complicated answer. Turned out to be a pretty cool thread. By the way, I will probably always have the Fat Boy and not the STC. Just because.
i even got kurayakins fold down luggage rack as you can see in the dressed picture. its the bomb when carrying t-bags. and it folds up away when your not.
How does that Physics lesson go? "The shortest distance between two points is a straight line."? Seems like alot of money and ground to cover when the starting point was already the destination. Damn it, I think I just confused myself. [sm=happybounce.gif]
They go out and buy a fatboy and proceed to turn it into a Heritage softail.
FatBoy + Saddlebags, windshield, passing lamps, handlebars, spoke wheels, etc. = Heritage Softail
If you wanted a Heritage, why didnt you just buy one?
Whew. For a minute there I thought you were talking about me. But as you can see, I migrated more toward a Deluxe I suppose....
I bought a used 2001 Heritage. I do not like spoked wheels, so I put a set of Fatboy wheels on the bike. I also like the clean fenders, so I added a Fatboy front fender. I would have changed the rear fender to, but I didn't want to have to deal with the rear turn signals.
The bike looks great, kind of like a Fat-itage!
