Is there a difference on the screaming eagle slip-ons between the pre 07 models and the 07 model?
I have a buddy looking for some slip-ons for his 07 FLSTC and I found a guy with some that says they will work but they are from a 05 softail. Any mounting differences?
I have an 07 also.
I was told that the 07 and later models are different, and will not accept parts from 05 and o6 models. Have him check with the dealership.
When I got SE's for my '07, the dealer who is a friend, told me the new ones were EPA compliant and I wouldn't like them, WAY too quiet...he went in the back and found a set of "not street legal, etc" slip on's same as I'd had on my '04 which I'd just traded in on the new one...they were new in a dusty box, but at least a couple of years old...had to mod one bracket, but they worked great...
Just to put in my .02 worth.I had the se on my 07 heritage my friend had a 650 yamaha with cobra pipes. His 650 was way louder than my harley. IMHO unless you want quiet I wouldn't get the se's.I put v&h true duals with quiet baffles and the sound is great.
How much mod to the bracket? That may be the way to go. I would hate for him to spend the money and end up with quiet pipes......
Nothing much on the mod, just rummaged around the garage till I found an L bracket to use as a short extension...it's behind the rear pipe, can't see it...but I'm real happy with the pipes...everybody and their brother in law around here is running V&H lately, not knocking them they're good pipes, but I wanted something different...and as I said, the new SE's ARE quiet, that's why I got an older set...trust me, they'll set off car alarms and **** people off just like any other exhaust if you get into them...
