I planned to ride thru the winter whenever the weather allowed, so kept my eyes open for a nice full-face. One Sunday afternoon I stumbled upon my best deal ever on ebay. Matching full face HD helmets in both my and my wifes proper size -- and the seller was only ten miles away!! Unfortunately for them, they weren't described very well on the site and had no bidders. Anyway, for $80 I picked up two like new helmets. Much quieter with the full face, and they are actually more comfortable than the 3/4 helmets we were using. I skip the helmets if it's nice out and I'm just tooling around locally, but I've had two rocks bounce off my visorin the last six months, so I'm happy to keep wearing a lid.
re kids - i actually sold my bike and settled down a while ... the missus wouldn;t have it any other way. many years later, kids now 10+ back on the bike...... i s'pose to each their own , but I reckon you are either riding or you aint. a full face v's a 3/4 for instance is not going to make a differencefor most accidents.you will have them - missus has just made sure that I have very good life insurance.
Congrats on the baby!!! I have been thinking about the same thing lately. I have 5 helmets,3 half shell and 2 full face. All are made by HJC and are not very comfortable. I had an Arai years back and really liked it. You bring up some good stuff here, life and all... You got me thinking I may well do thesame.
I'm still trying to figure out what having a kid has to do with wearing a helmet. If you want to wear a helmet, that's cool, just don't blame it on your son. By that same logic, are you going to wear it while driving a car? Statistics show that you have a better, or worse depending on how you look at it, chance of head injury in a car.
best thing to do is try a bunch of different ones on. See which one feels the best and has all the bells and whistles that you want. Don't sell your bike. You will regret it. Even if it sits in the garage for a few years.

why do you have to be a dick? Im not blaming anything on anyone! I clearly stated that with a kid on the way its got my mind thinking about a lot now. And im gonna get a helmet to wear when i ride my bike. i have an 08 f250 crew cab 4x4, i dont think the bike is safer. All, im saying is that im better off with a helmet on in the case of an accident. as for blaming it on my son, I stated above.... the reason is because i want to be there for my son and watch him grow up. just keep your mouth shut dude.
There's an old saying, "you will pay for a helmet what your head is worth." Now, there comes a point whereyou are paying for a name orspecial paint/graffix, but I rode sportbikes for a while and would say Shoei or Arai. However, for a great helmet, at a decent price, check out Icon Moto. Theyhave a couple baddass helmets.
i sport a full face helmet and i love it. keeps the bugs off in the summer and some cold out in the winter. i have a h-d one, hard to describe, its not on the website anymore but i really like it. it gets a bit warm in the summer on the 100+ degree days but i usually lift the shield up if i cant stand it.
