SilverDawg, I ordered everything from my dealer (Waugh HD in Orange Va. www.waughhd.com - Actually I didn't purchase the Rocker from them, but I did get my Sporty and they are a great group). I am also going to have them install everything. I don't do very much of my own work and I wanted this to be done right.
rleather, I think both can be done by most. Like I said above I just didn't want to screw it up.
I ordered my Rocker C in black. Had the dealer take the fenders and gas tank off to have them repainted. With a black frame I can do most anything. I'm in Milwaukee and am lucky enough to know the owner of a company that does a lot of Harley custom painting. He offered to repaint my parts to factory specs with color of my choice. Not sure which way to go yet but I have some thoughts. The gray flames don't do much for me. They look better on the red and blue Rockers.
I ordered the removable HD leather bags. Not that crazy about them but somtimes you need storage. I also ordered extended forward controls. I'm 6'-6". I would like to change out the seat too. Might put the regular Rocker seat on ($179) and have it modified for more leg room. There are clearance issues between the seat and the fender. Supposedly there is 3" of travel which means 3" of clearance, but I think the seat can be extended a bit and perhaps bring the sides down farther to cover the gap. Never going to look like a chopper with a hardtail seat, but I'm sure something better can be done. Won't know for sure until I get the bike from the dealer. Will post pics when I get it home.
Thanks for the compliment on the floor. It has been down now for over 2 years, and it is a "mod' to the house that I really love. I'll do it on every house I am fortunate to own in the future.
any way to get rid of the licensee plate holder on the fender?
Still looking for solutions...I'm sure, given the appropriate amount of time, some aftermarket company will develop a kit to get it off the deck and down onto the swingarm.
Relative to the garage floor, it was professionally done a couple of years ago. Painstaking process to remove the old paint on the floor and then apply the coating, then the color chips, and then the clear coat. About 3.00 sq. ft. with the color chips. I will do this on every garage that I am fortunate to own in the future. Easy clean up and it looks great.
Congrats on a great start, looks good. I am interested where you obtained the Swingarm Bolt/nut cover, I have ordered the swing arm frame inserts which I am glad now I have seen yours, but could not find a Bolt/Nut cover, also do you have them both sides or just the drive side as shown? Also I notice a nut cover on the controls mount to the frame, gear lever side, is this a harley part?
