The flush caps look really great. Do the LEDs work well enough for you to see easily? That was my only hesitation in putting them on my bike.
I have the flush caps on my Rocker and the LEDs are bright enough to see clearly in daylight.

They look really nice, I've been debating on whether or not to get a set for my ride.

Looks great. Were they easy to install? I put the skull one on to my bike last spring. It wasa bit of a trick with the size of my meathooks, but I managed it. I've read of problems with the LEDs burning out or fritzing after sitting in cold weather. I'm hoping mine it still working 100% when I pull the bike out in a couple of weeks. The flush mounts are much more subtle than the skull ones. Very nice.
A couple of weeks...heck I rode to work this morning. ; )

The LEDs work great...for a while. I had the flush mount LED guage on my RKC...had to replace the guage5 times in one riding season (about 7 months) because LEDs kept burning out. My wife has the flush mount guage on her Heritage (installed the same time as the RKC)...had to replace her guage 4 times in the same riding season because the LEDs would just stop working. Don't know if they are still working on the Heritage because it is still in storage in the garage (the latest guage was on the bike about two weeks before storing); the RKC was traded in so I don't have to worry about replacingthe guage six times in less than one year.

Good luck with them.

flyburch,

Thanks for the info on the pipes as a starting point - will now beingresearch on when, where, listen to them, etc.....just can't get over how nice they look installed on your rocker and will take your word for it that they are not too loud.

cheeshead,

Can't believe your experience withthe guage LEDsbeing so unreliable, hope they are covered under warrantee. Were they installed by a HD dealer? If so, you'd think the HD mothership would get a handle on fixing the source of the problem or it'll bankrupt em - that failure rate is absolutely pitiful!

Anyone else have any experience with the guage LEDs failing or failing so frequently? Like to get a second opinion before I abort my planned purchase & install.

TIA,

Yes,all replacements have been under warranty. Yes, all installed by the dealer. The dealer has taken them off the display shelves and put them in the back room. They will only sell them if someone begs for them. They will discourage anyone from buying them because 9 out of every 10 bikes that they install them on, have gone back at least once (most 2, 3, or more times) for a replacementdue to LEDs not working. They have notified the MoCo of the problem and were told it was a known issue. I would not be surprised if the dealer stops installing them because the MoCo only reimburses the dealer for the defective part and the dealership has to cover all the labor charges in house...they lose money every time they install one and replace it.

I'm leaving the guage on my wife's bike because it does look better than the stock guage. It will just be a blank chrome cover when all the LEDs stop working. Even though they look great, I would never buy another one due to the fact that there are so many known issues with them.

It is cold here; but, I don't believe that is the problem. They were installed last May after it warmed up. All of them were replaced between May and early November of last year.

Seems like it could be a common problem. Check out these threads. Seems there are a few other people that have had the same problems. The problem with the LED comes up a couple of times in these threads. I'm sure there are more. Some people are not having problems.

Cheese Head,

Thanks for the two links, we may have accidently stumbled onto something - After reading all the posts in both threads, I learned that there are two brands - Kuryakyn or HD brand. If everyone that has problems with their LED guages would PLEASE post which brand, perhaps we could isolate the problems to a single brand. If it turns-out that the problems can be associated with a single brand, we could all save a lot of time, money, and frustration AND get the good looks of the flush mount guages.

Wow, I just realizedthe true power of this forum - We as an HD ownercommunity, can allmake muchbetterpurchase decisions based on collective experience.Rewarding certain vendors and steering clear of otherswill, in time,weed-out the vendor brands which are junk.
