Default Stage 1 Worth It?

Have a 2005 Softail Standard EFI with SEII slip ons. Will I notice a big difference after the upgrade? I called several dealers here in Tn and its around $300.00 for the filter and ecm flash. Seems a little expensive unless I really gain some performance. Any comments and sugestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

03' Fatboy EFI, stage I download air cleaner and V&H Big shot longs, big difference between this and stock. More responsive throughout the power band.
Go for it.

Kenny, I can't comment about EFI (I run a carb) but a stage 1 upgrade made a serious (positive) difference in how my bike runs. It idles better, has great pull, doesn't surge or pop and sounds great. Hopefully some of the EFI crowd will let you know whether or not $300 is a good price. I spent $165 for freer-flowing mufflers, $85 for a Big Sucker A/C and $5 to rejet - CWO

I am installing my SE A/C Kit and getting the ECM Download when I install my new pipes next week. I will let you know if there is any difference.

Kenny, Mtythoughts are a stage 1 kit is the most HP you can get for your dollar. If you upgrade from there you will never again gain the same percentage for the same amount of money. Day & night difference on my efi fatboy and Ultra. My new cost with the download, exhaust and filter approx. $700.00.

I did the SE Air cleaner, HD touring mufflers and EFI download on my 2005 EG Classic. I got a good gain in seat of the pants power, my bike runs good from sea level to 11,000 ft., and has a much, or more power as my old EVO that has a stage 1, mufflers, carb rejet, and a Cam.

In my opinion the upgrade was worth it..

Regards,

Bill

With the addition of the stage one and slipons with the associated fuel enrichment needed, you will gain 8- 10 HP. Worth it in my opinion.

well here`s my 2 cents.i think it`s hard to feel 10 hp but it`s not hard to feel torque. and with the stage 1 kit with my v&h big radius thats what i could feel it pulls harder and stronger then the stock bike i rode. i had mine put on before it left the shop. i didn`t get a side by side comparison. but ya it i was to do it again.. it`s would be stage 1 again. if you think $300 a lot look at stage 2 Name: hogtied.jpg

I have an 05 Springer and based on what the members of this forum said and the research that I did on my own, I had the Stage 1 put on before it left the shop. It WILL help your bike to run better and more efficient.
