i have always had boards so i dont know how the forwards would feel. just looking at the pics, they do not look as comfortable on the long runs, but if your travels are short they would look cool

This is somewhat true depending the position you are sitting. All these bikes come from the factory one way.. seat, handlebars, foot controls. Not all us riders fit the HD spec. I went with pull back drag bars, forward controls, and then had a custom seat made to match the contour of the seating position.. The floorboards for me were uncomfortable on long rides because I had only on position = flat footed. the forwards put my feet and legs in a comfortable relaxed position.
Dude, it's a personal preference. I am 6'3" and the best thing i did was take my boards off and strapped on the forwards. Yes for long trips boards are great, but you will get use to the ride one you actually are finally able to stretch your legs out for once. Keep in mind that you will need to make a new rear brake line which is not that bad and then decide on the type. I put ACCUTRONIX WITH 3" EXTENDED controls and they are made with needle bearings for a much smoother than bushings. They run in the neighborhood of 850-900 dollar range depending on where or who you get them from. Everyone is different and you have to decide to you want to stretch out or not!!!!!!!!!!!!
You do not have to change or make a new brake line !.
Forwards off 07/08 Nightrain, Softail Standard or the HD Accessories ones will bolt straight on to a07/08 Fatboy. No adjustments or alterations needed. And they cost a third of the price of the Accutronix ones.
Sure the Accutronix might look flasher but I suppose it all depends on how much cash you are prepared to outlay.

Good piece of info - Sweet sled as well.
For some reason the Harley forwards look like they were made out of pieces of a swing set...
MOCO money making style.
I think I may have not been to clear, I replaced my rear brake line due to the fact that I had 3" extended forward controls and the stock brake line was to short! I made the Stainless flex up myself for less than buying a stock already made and it matches all my other lines. You can buy HD forward controls for 659.95 then you have to buy pegs and shifters for another 80.00+69.00 if that! So thats roughly a little over 800.00 without taxes or you can order them from chicago harley and save 20%.......Here's the problem anyone over 6'3" your gonna need a minimum 3" extended and HD just don't make them!!!!!!!!!!! I used Accutronix because of the quality and the fact that they come any way you like at no extra charge. they also use needle bearings which is a whole lot smoother. Next step up is hydrolics and i didn't see the need but you might, who knows. I hope that this gives you some insight! Remember you gotta make the bike yours...........Dude all you have to do is hold the HD controls in your hand and that will help you more than you know!!! Just because it is stamped HD doesn't mean it can't be junk....
As you will see from the attachments they are nowhere near the $800 price tag as mlarki suggests. Nothing wrong with the quality, sure they arent as flash as the Accutronix but still do the same job, and they still allow you to make the bike yours. Like I said before it all depends on how deep your pockets are. What I saved here I can put into other little changes that 'make the bike mine'.
