Default input on lowering softail standard dues and don'ts

I bought a salvage04 softail standard it had front end damage, the guy I bought the bike from put a new set of fork tubes on but did not replace the springs, I was curious about the noise it was making so I took the forks apart and one of the springs are badly bent. Now I'm not sure if you can buy just one spring but if I have to buy 2 of them I was considering lower the bike obviously in lower you have to use shorter springs and now would be the time to do so, I would also lower the rear. I was wondering what to take into consideration, someone mentioned not to go to far you will bottom out, what is a happy medium but still looks good and comfortable, I am about 5'6" 140# and wife is 5'1" 130# ANY INPUT OR ADVISE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

THANKS RUSTY

Dropping the rear down is definitely better looking (in my opinion). With you and your wife not being "heavy" people, I would say you could drop the rear about 2" with no problems. I dropped the rear end of my '07 Softail Standard by 1", and had no problems handling my wife and I. Then, I put a Legend Air System on it. As far as lowering shocks go, HD makes some, but Progressive Shocks are better.......Try looking into the Progressive 422s. Mojojones may chime in later.....he just put those on his scooter. Good luck.....Now get your a$$ in the softail standard thread.
