Hi Harry,
I just edited my last post above, sorry for the delay.
If she said it has two cams, and it's an EVO, than one of those cams has to be in a box.
Evo's have one cam and Twin cam, well, it has two and has to be at least a year 2000.
you may want to dig a bit more.
good luck

Looking at a 1997 soft tail. This bike is in show room condition with 13000 miles on it .The guy will take 10000 bucks for it.
Is there any problems with this particular year that i should know of.Im just trying to get a good deal.and i want t o play it smart.

Harry
A softail custom is very popular, but when new not the top of the line for price.

An evo is an excellent engine, especially the newer ones like that. They came out in about 1984, depending on the model of Harley.

I think that bike is worth $7500, but that's just my $.02. The nice thing about buying used like that is that if you buy it right, it "might" never depreciate. ??

I bought my "97 FLSTC 2.5 years ago and paid $11K............it was mint with 3800 miles. I love this bike, kind of old school and now an eye catcher being 11 years old. I just didnt wantto shell out $20K for a new bike at the time and then have toadd $1000s with mods.

I don't think you'll have problems getting it serviced..........my local HD-r has no problem with my bike, as well as a local private service guy.............they are much easier. As far as price, IMO.............$10K seems high, especially now when HD is discounting like crazy and folks are feeling the economic downturn. I'm sure you looked hard on the internet, but $8K maxor so seems fair.

for a couple grand more the dealer will sell you a new one, finance for seven years and you'll have warranty. thats what i did when i bought my standard. 15,900 $ . had the screaming eagle mufflers, remap, and the addtl' 2 year warranty for far less than a used bike would cost me.
