I purchased some Renegade wheels, rotors, and a pully for my 08 Fatboy. I went with the Dallas wheels. Well with about 125 miles on them I was cruising at 75 mph passing some tractor trailers on the Interstate when all of a sudden I had the death wobbles. I was lucky to keep it up right and make my way to the right shoulder. I looked at the front wheel and the bearings in the hub were toast. The Front bearings froze up and tore the whole wheel up. This happened on a Saturday so I have not been able to call the company and start the complaining. I was told at the Harley shop that the wrong spacer was put in between the bearings and this caused the bearings to heat up andsieze. When that happened the bearing spiraled down the sleeve in the hub and tore it all up. Then the racer tore out the hub as well. I will be sending the wheel and rotor back and I will let you all know what happens.
Oh man that's not funny. I was thinking of getting one of those wheels for the front of my bike so I'll be interested in how you make out.
Keep us posted.
WOW!!! I'm with DaFrankster, The shorts cleaning would be a definate. Glad you made it to the shoulder. I have the HD wheels, figured if something happened HD would back them up.
One thing to keep in mind in properly torquing down the rear axle nut to the correct amount. And it isn't much, something like 65 FT/LBS. If you over tighten, it will sieze up the bearing.
Well I called Renegade and Hog Pro. I sent the wheel, tire and rotor back to hog pro and they told me they would send a new wheel tire and rotor. Well I talked to hog pro this morning and they said that it was a bad bearing and that they replaced the hub but not the rim or rotor like they said they would and they are sending it back to me. Renegade said that they would have to look at all the parts to make a determination on what went wrong. I told Renegade that I tired to get it fixed and like a dumb *** I left all the old parts there. Oh and nobody would pony up and pay me the 250 dollars it cost to try and get it fixed. I will keep you all posted. I am not happy right know. The damm things are spendy and nobody wants to help me out.
