Anybody have an opinion on swapping out the whole front end vs putting chrome upper and lower fork sliders. Do the fork sliders look as good? Can you tell the difference? Quite a price difference! I have an 06 deluxe, lots of extra chrome!
I'm abuot to install just the slides on my train, ididn't think the fork tubes look bad the way they are. Oh but definetly do the chrome dust covers. good luck mike
I am in the process of changing out the whole front end. I was in a HD shop while I was out of town and the dealer just happened to have the new chrome inverted front end from the new catalogue anf I just had to have it. It has 52 mm forks tubes so its big and beefy and the inverted forks with the clean looking axle bolt cover sold me on the spot. Once I decided I than had to chnge the handle bars on my Night train and get a new headlight shell along with the braided brake lines and cables.
Once the dealer has it all together I will take some pics and post them...it should be in the next week or so.
After I had priced out the chrome lowers I just thought it was better bang for my buck.

I'm thinking you're a little lost on the terminology here. Sliders are the lower part of the forks on a standard (not inverted) front end. Are you meaning some type of cover that goes over the existing stuff?
I had the lower sliders ($289 list) and the upper covers ($59.. I think list) installed on my bike before it was delievered. The dealer only charged me one hour per side to install at $70 / hr. So my front end was chromed for for less than $500 and add the discount given, it was well worth it. This picture is the day after I picked it up.. I think it makes a big difference on a black bike.
Yes, Its worth it. On my 95 FB this past year I had to replace the shield behind the head light, the headlight , beer cans, lower triple tree cover and the sliders. My bike is about 11 years old and it was time. If fact I changed about 90% of the chrome on my bike since April of last year. It is getting to the point where I cant find anything to buy at the dealer anymore. LOL. The chrome looks sweet. Harley Triple plated chrome looks great. Here in Cali. The EPA control over chromers really tie their hands for good quality chrome.
