Default highway bars for FXST models

So unless I'm missing something, I guess a guy doesn't have many options to stretch his legs with a skinny front tire. I've been looking all day for something besides the stand Harley style highway bars. I honestly want something more like a mustache bar. I did find some cosmetic overpriced extensions. Man I wish I still had a welder. What are you guys running?

Its nothing but a Softtail frame. Any Softtail aftermarket should bolt up. Sometimes the bars will get in the way of the foot brakes but who needs brakes anyway?

The main different I see is the top mount, either one bolt or two. I wasn't sure about the bottom. I'm like you though, thinking the frames were the same. I also was wondering about control clearance with the standard forward controls, and if bolt onpegs would be too far forward with the harley bars.

I have a 2007 FXSTC and it has the HD bar added to it. I put pegs on the outside of the bars with no problem. I'm only 5'-8" and the pegs work for me okay. I have a full leg stretch with the pegs at a slight angle to the bike. It also works kinda neat that I can put my heals on the original pegs and my toes on the added pegs, makes for just one more change of position on a long ride that way.
The added pegs can get in the way if you have BIG feet. I sometime catch the toe of my boot on the peg bracket on the bar. Its not real problem but it could be to someone else.

Keep the dirty side down.

After looking at some bars, I guess the only difference is control clearance. Anyhow, I ended up ordering the new Kuryakyn mustache bar. Uses clamps for the frame and bar so it's fully adjustable. I'm still not sure how it will look, but only one way to find out. May wish I had stuck with the HD bars.

Got the bar installed tonight and it looks great. Storm moved in so I'll try to get some pics soon and figure out a way to post them, or email them, whatever works. Honestly though, they look really good, especially on a custom.
