Default NO OIL PRESSURE

I have a 2004 FatBoy with 6000 miles on it. The oil light came on and I could hear the the valves chatter as the lifters started to collapse. I got the bike home and found the the oil tank was so over full it was ready to come out the fill neck. I drained the oil down and cut open the filter to check for metal,(none found) and put a pressure gauge on the engine. When I started the bike the oil pressure was a 20 at idle and 32 at 2000 RPM. I thought that maybe the oil level was so high that it blocked of the vent line in the tank and couldn't circulate right, so I over filled the tank to test it and the oil pressure was still good until I drove down my driveway and the gauge went to zero. I drained the oil back down to the right level but the oil pressure is still at zero. I am getting ready to open up the engine next. Anyone have any ideas????

Default RE: NO OIL PRESSURE

Have you disconnected the oil return lines, provided there are such things, and checked for pluggage? It sounds like the lines may be restricted causing the flow to be slow, but allowing air when checked. I work in a chemical plant and have found from experience that a small hole will allow gases to pass, but will severly restrict liquid. It could be something small that the filter bypassed after it became restricted. Just a thought, hope you have good luck. But, in my humble, but highly accurate opinion (lol), I would NOT run the engine until finding out what the problem is, oil is the lifeblood of your enging.
