has this happened to u?
riding in fifth gear coming to a stop light...pull the clutch hand lever in...try to down shift and nothing happens...at this point i have stopped for the light...so i let go the hand lever just a bit and hear a 'clank', pulled in and shifted gear...had to repeat for the rest of the gears... happened twice... any clues?

Yes, how new is the bike? May need to adjust your clutch. Mine used to do that during the first 5,000 miles. Now longer does that.
I also changed out to synthetic. Don't know if that makes a difference.

Yep. Mine does it with 2200 miles on it. So does my '99 Sporty with 18000 mi. Release the handle just a bit and and "clunk"/downshft a gear. I just tested it on the new one to see if it would do it like the Sporty. But yes, I always downshift through the gears when stopping.

Clutch cable needs adjusting. It is not disengaging the clutch plate enough.

Most of my bikes do that if you don't downshift as you decel. I looked it up once, think it's related to them sticking from speed differences. I mostly get it on emergency stops or the like too.
