my 07 nighttrain did that a few time's and what it was is just what the guys are saying it was my cable and after a adjustment never did it again,the cable was my own falt i was dickin around with the bike my own stupied tinkering is what it was

thanks...normally i downshifth on decel...when it happened i was testing the 6th gear light cause i had just disconnected the tmax and wanted to make sure the settings where ok... rain and thunder has kept me from further riding...

This may sound strange but depending on what shoes/boots you have on will cause you to not engage the gear lever with the right amount of pressure from your foot and can cause upshifting issues as well as downshifting issues. I found this out with my new heavy sole Harley boots over my worn in army boots. Took a little getting used too.
