1200C won't shift

I was riding my 06 1200C today and while over taking a car engine sounded like it was at high rpm hitting the Rev limiter, then noticed I was slowing down. I pulled over on a side road and it still clunks when I shift but it seems to be stuck in neutral, regardless of what gear I shift too.

*Edit* when in neutral, light shows. But in other gears it still won't move and acts like it's in neutral.

It sounds like it's shifting, but the clutch isn't engaging. Power flows from the crankshaft to the clutch to the transmission. If the clutch is slipping/disengaging (which it's supposed to only when you pull in the clutch lever), power isn't getting to the transmission, so being in gear won't matter. Does the lever feel normal? How many miles on the bike? When was the last time the clutch was adjusted?

About 34k miles, lever feels normal. Clutch has never been adjusted.
