Just got my Cross Bones and was wondering from those that have the wind shield, how much wind does it deflect. I would also like to know which wind shield you have (ex. full or low profile).

I got the taller windshield and like it very well. My opinion has always been, if you are going to run a windshield then get the biggest most effective one you can. The windshield is in perfect alignment with the front end and sitting on the tractor seat I look over the windshield, but it is tall enough that I can duck under it during rainstorms. Also it being taller, I like how it is tapered at the top vs the shorter one that is more cut off. The bracket is chrome, but is not distracting because of the chrome springs and shock of the springer front end. If you wanted to get it powdercoated gloss black, my local shop quoted me about $20. If you install it yourself, be aware that the instructions were modified in March 08 to change the mounting points for the throttle cable guides, which if you follow the instructions supplied with the kit, they will hit the tank when turning the handlebars full right. Let me ask you a couple of questions psd.
If you were lucky enough to marry a woman who looked like Jessica Simpson, would you insist that she never leave the house unless she were wearing real baggy cloths, sensible shoes and no make-up? No you wouldn't unless you're a nut and because you ride a Harley we know you aren't.
Here's another question; would you go out and buy a Electra Glide and turn it into a bobber? We would have to ask you why you bought a touring bike to make it a bobber. If you wanted a touring bike, why didn't you buy any of the fine touring/cruising models Harley makes? ie; a Heritage, Deluxe, Street Glide, Fat Boyor Road King? Why did you buy a hot little bar hopper and then wimp it down? See what I'm trying to say?
I mean would you go out and build a bad *** chopper and put a windshield on it?

+1 on what Marsh put up there...a windshield on a Cross Bones is just WRONG in every way...

Some guys would put a sweatsuit on Angelina Jolie so she wouldn't get cold...yeah, it's practical, but[sm=WTFsgign.gif]

 

Everybody like there bike to be different. There is NO right or wrong. As long as the owner likes it ----- That is all that matters : But most times i ride my Heritage with the windshield off.

 

And it looks awesome too! But you're right. It'shis Cross Bones. He has a perfect right to dork it up. But enquiring minds want to know; whyhe bought a bobber, if he wanted a cruiser/tourer?

Marsh, I disagree with most of what you said..."Dork it up?"... I have a touring bike, the best, a 100th Anniversary Ultra, which I use for the long trips and overnighters with I need to carry stuff. I bought the XBones for a fun to ride, sport touring bike, not to go 2 miles to a restaurant/bar and then 2 more miles to another restaurant/bar. If all you get a bike for is to ride to eat or drink and be seen, then that is poser in my opinion. I want to ride the XBones to the mountains, ride the curves, take many 200 mile day trips. Getting there is a lot of 55-75 mph travel and frankly with the mini-apes making the rider sit high and upright the body becomes a huge kite and by the time you get to your destination you are worn out. Now if I want to just go down to the local Friday night biker acitivites or out to eat, then the windshield can be removed in about 1 minute or less. In my opinion, that gives the owner flexibility.
