DIY Cheap Mods
See, we'd know pretty quick who the trailer queens and status possessors are:
Their garage doors would quit opening due to lack of charge...! Ya, this seat control thing will be great once it catches on!
Won't be much word to replace the batteries when they go dead. All I will have to do is remove a few staples up front, pull the leather back, replace batteries and then staple the leather back down.
I have had this done now for about a month and it still gives me a big smile every time I pull in the drive and just touch the seat and the garage goes up.
I finally got around to doing the "integrate a garage door opener in to a button on your bike" mod.. had the extra mini keychain opener laying around, normal cost was like $30, but since i've had it unused for a few months now, i write off that cost..then $15 for the button and rubber button boot.

Too simple huh Sgt Jim! I originally placed mine under the dash but I was changing the battery one day and noticed the wires would reach the battery box so I relocated it there. Much easier to change the battery now which is usually annually.
Is there a way to hard wire that?
Hello fellow DIYers. I think my 2 mods I have done on my Breakout this week qualify me for this thread as I spent a total of $6 on both.
1st mod- I have Freedom Performance radius pipes and they are quite loud, I was quoted $410 for a pair of their "quiet baffles". Maybe they are not that loud then!!!(baffle is welded in and their "quiet baffle" replaces the whole back end of the pipe)
Did a little research on quiet baffle design and got on the lathe at work and machined up a pair of baffles out of Stainless steel. Tack welded on a little retaining block, tapped a 1/4" thread in it and drilled a hole in the side of the pipes to hold them in. They slide right in the end and the retaining screw is under the heat shield out of sight. They have done exactly what I was after, definitely quieter at idle, but still got a nice note when on the throttle.
2nd mod- Removed the stock license plate holder from under the rear fender and attacked it with an angle grinder. Only left 2 little tabs hanging out the back to attach the number plate to. Smoothed all edges and drilled 2 holes to mount license plate. Cut wires to plate light and soldered wires for 2 license plate bolts with inbuild LED's(cost $6 off ebay). Re-attached to bike and the result is a much smaller & neater plate and light.
I have attached a few pics of the baffles and also before and after the license plate chop.
Cheers

@harty: didn't know there were bolts with LED's. Really like that mod - looks good. Glad you posted (both mods).
@QuadDancer: if I saw a guy "touching something else" and moving his garage door up and down, I'd not only be impressed, I'd be headed next door with a 12 pack and askin' him to please teach me!
