I just ordered, and received, 2 tires from Metzler...1, the rear tire, is made in Germany, the other is made in Brazil. A friend of mine came over this afternoon and stated that the Metzlers made in Brazil are having propblems separating...is this true? This is not what you want at 30mph, much less 85. Thanks.
RE: Are metzler tires having trouble with separation?
Your bike's description doesn't mention the wide tire kit to allow the installation of that 210??? I'm thinking when it's time to replace the tires, I'm going with the Metzlers. I've read positive posts from many on here and I've got the ME880's on my Sporty anyway. They have just over 5K on them and still look like there's many more miles to go on them. I've wondered if the Dunlops are a softer compound and wear faster too boot.

Got close to 1,000 miles in on my recently installed Metz ME880 (210-50-17)...it's all good.
RE: Are metzler tires having trouble with separation?
Currently have 15K on rear (ME880 and yes will need a new one soon) 12K on front. Both made in Brazil. I heard the same thing when I bought these tires last April so I called Metz direct. The Rep who I spoke with a few times said that he hasn't seen any problems and would double check and call me back. Believe it or not he did call back and told me that their is nothing out there to back up the claim. Even asked where I got the info so he could investigate it. Either way I'm satisfied and getting ready to order another set.
RE: Are metzler tires having trouble with separation?
Thanks for the input...everything I've read about the Metz is good. I've got mine and they're going on the bike ASAP. Don't know where the info about separation came from. Thanks again.
I've had 2 Metzler real tires separate-one on my 1985 FLHTC and one on my 2001 BMW K1200 LT. They both had less than 5000 miles on them. I now have a Bridgestone on the BMW and am going to try Avons on the Electraglide. I always had Dunlops on the Glide before the 880. No more 880s for me.
I've been running Metzlers since 05, When i was reading about them in 05 i read not to get one from Brazil, Mine are from Brazil........Best tires I've ever owned
