Mitch bought the harley detachable windshield for his wide glide, took it for a ride and the buffeting was really bad above 50mph. He bought the chrome lowers for a touring bike, drilled one new hole in them and put them on. Simple mod, great result. The softail lowers have a small cutout on the side so they miss the engine guard when you turn the front end all the way to one side or the other. The touring lowers have a straight edge to them.
The windshield that he bought is the one with the four billet quick release clamps. The harley lowers bolted onto the sides of the clamps using a 1/2" spacer so it would clear the hardware. I'll try to get him to take a picture and upload it for you guys that want to see it.
I went with the tallest windshield (21 or 20.5 inches). I don't mind looking through the shield to avoid buffeting. Like everybody said, also add the lowers.
Aviator thanks. Bought it here..came off an 07 softail standard $50...much more comforable for me. Not nearly as WIDE and lowered me about 1 inch. Oh yeah, it was cheap!
I'm glad I saw this thread....I took my new windshield off my ride
a couple weeks after I got it. The updraft blew up under my face shield big time. I removed it and put it on the shelf.
