I changed my rear original turn signals on my 07 Fatboy and replaced them with aftermarket strut end ones.
First Problem is that now they seem to flash much quicker than before - is this normal ?. Or do I need to put one of those load equalise things on ?.
Second Problem - since installing the aftermarkets, the little red key on the dash stays lit from the second you use the indicators till you turn off the bike. This little red key is to do with the security system on the bike, anyone know why it would be doing this ?.
Sounds like your replacement signals are LEDs. If so, they draw much less current, and would account for both of your problems. Yes, you will need a load equalizer to resolve this. Problem is, load equalizers are resistors, and resistors generate heat. Now you have to find a safe place to wire them in where the heat won't cause any damage.
That's why I stayed away from LEDs - can of worms.
Another plus here on the load equalizer. The unit you probably need is the Badlands III,it works in conjunction with the security system tosolve the problem of the security icon being on constantly.I have it on my bike.Seems to work fine
Hey skulznflames, I've got the Alloy Art strut end turn signals that I'm about to install. How did you get to the wiring to install yours? I was wondering if you have to remove the fender or the tire to get to them. Also, what would be the best connecters to use. Thanks.
