Default Night Train Night Mare

i picked up a kit to put a sissy bar on my 2000 night train and figured id bang it on there no problem. I now see that getting the existing hard out is a chore the only way i see getting the bolts out would be to take the tire off. Any help on this would be great.

Have you tried jaking it up where the tire is off the ground? I was able to do it with my 06, but maybe youre is different.

Just remove your seat, remove the 2 screws holding the ECU, and move it out of the way. Reach into the fender from there with a 9/16" wrench to hold the 2 nuts on each side while you loosen/tighten the Torx bolts, and you're done. Much easier than taking half the darn bike apart.

While your at the dealer, buy or order a service manual. It will pay for itself in the long run.

The rear-most bolt has no separate nut- it's part of the fender. Those will simply unscrew. The next two forward bolts have nuts behind them (inside the fender). The two most forward bolts also have no separate nuts- they screw into the actual framehorn. The nuts are 9/16".

Keep in mind, the dealer will probably charge at least one hour's labor for 15 minutes' work.

Yea they got some serious something on them.&nbsp\\; I think they are size 45 torx.&nbsp\\; The 40 fits but will not give you the grip you need or will strip it out.&nbsp\\; You need a long handle wrench to get the leverage to need to pop them loose.
