The rockers key will not pull out of the ignition in the on position. Its LOCKED when you pull the key out. Simple. I know several owners that dont even remember where their keys are. I actually have a great answer to this question. An old riding buddy of mine used to tie a spare key to his riding boots so I did the same think with my key fob...zip tied it to my riding boots. No fumbling for keys, etc. Walk up to the bike and your ready to ride...no lost fobs, etc.

with an '07 or newer softail there is no need to lock the ignition or usethe ignition key to start the bike (as long as the keyfob is near the bike).
as soon as the ignition switch is turned, (or the bike moved) without the keyfob near the bike, the alarm will chirp, if it's not left alone the alarm will go off.
and it sure as hell will not start without the keyfob near the bike, so you CAN'Tride without yourkeyfob.
so, back to the original question......
I keep mine with the ignition key in my pocket.
