OK Tom, we live in a small town of 25,000. Thefts like his are rare and front page news around here. Especially when my brothers bike was parked in the living room of our dads house, in a very nice, well respected subdivision. And of course he new the guy that stole it. Thats what made it an easy target. And I would love for you to call him stupid to my face! And you'll have to elaborate on the metric thing. The rocker has nothing in common with metric bikes. And I doubt harley will discontinue the hottest bike they have ever produced. And if they do then why would I want to get rid of mine. The value would skyrocket. If I bought another factory bike it'll be a nt and ill rake the front end out. But that will be my other bike. The rocker will remain my no1 bike.
Well now see, you didn't mention it was an inside job. Do you guys not lock your door either? As for the metric comment....all metric bikes use key in ignition.....but other than that I got nothin. I know various Harley models use different ignition setups, but the "stupid" one is the most common. I've just never heard anyone call it stupid before. By the way, I wasn't bashing your bike. This whole thread just cracked me up, and it just got better with every post. Feel free to bash me sometime. I'm sure there will be plenty of opportunity.

I have a wallet with a chain on it that clicks to a quick release keyclip on the belt. The fob and bike keys are permanently attached to a key ring that is attached to the wallet. Once the bike is unlocked, the fob stays in the pocket, attached to the key ring, which is attached to the wallet, and secured with the belt attachment. I don't worry about my keys or my wallet as much that way.

Back door was kicked in. My brother was standing outside in freinds yard and seen his bike go down the road. He chased him and called the law and they told him to back off, that they would take care of it. Needless to say when the police arrived they had to pull my brother off the guy and dude got a trip to the er before going to jail. I'll try and post the newspaper article if I can find it.

Well this thread is a lot better than the what socks should I wear thread a few months ago. I keep my key fob on the inside pocket of my riding jacket.
+1 for the riding jacket.

I keep my fob with my key.
I really like my ignition set up.

And why would you not lock your ignition? The fob is on the key ring and the key ring is with me.
Our rockers dont have the ignorant ignition most harleys have, where you can pull the key out and still turn the ignition switch on and start the bike with out the key. How stupid. The rockers key will not pull out of the ignition in the on position. Its LOCKED when you pull the key out. Simple. I know several owners that dont even remember where their keys are. On a rocker if you dont know where your key is, you aint going for a ride.
Bluzmn59, The question for me is why bother locking the ignition? It is disabled with the security system anyhow. It seems like a waste of time locking it

rockerheadsteve, I think it was a great idea of Harley to have an ignition that you don't have to stick a key in every time you want to use it. The fob disables it when you are not on the bike so now we don't have to bother with a key all the time. The alarm system eliminates the need for a key but it still has the ability of being locked if someone wants that extra peace of mind. To me that seems a lot smarter than it does ignorant. Now, before you call me names or call my comment worthless please remember this is my opinion and worth just as much as yours is.
1of2, My brothers 03 standard doesnt have a fob. Same stupid ignition. And his bike was stolen and recovered, luckily. So your original comment was to make me look stupid and belittle me. So my opinion belittled no one. Understand? So that makes your opinion worth a little less. And my opinion of what you are, remains and always will.

If your ignition was in the right place to begin with (smart ***) you wouldnt had posted your worthless comment.
Nope, I don't understand at all. Will you please explain your post to me? Seriously!
