Hi to all been looking at the site for a while first time posting.. Looking to but my first Harley hopfully this weekend 08 Fatboy, Was just wondering what kind of deals should i be looking at. there are a bunch of dealers around [Long Island] so i will deff be shopping around. Just looking not to get screwed of coarse.. Thanks a head of time [sm=biker2.gif]
It all depends on how the market is in the area you are looking to buy. That being said some are more motivated to deal than others. One the average, I would at least look at getting the bike at msrp with no setup/shipping fees or greatly reduced fees. Some are getting in-store credit up to 1000.00 bucks. Shop around and try to play one dealer against the other.
Friend of mine just did real well at World Class in Trenton, NJ on an 08 Custom. They were pretty aggressive about getting his business. Even the dealer he bought his first HD at said if they were giving him that price, he should jump on it. He did everything over the phone and I brought him down to get it home. I think the salesman's name was Eddy but that is off the top of my head. PM me if you need a name.
I paid MSRP and the dealer had a special if ordered by a certain date theythrew in 2 year extended warrenty for free. Also got 20% off all accessories.
i bought my 06 Fatty at Bellmore HD. Got a little off of MSRP..nothing else. But you never know in todays market
Try Bellmore or Lighthouse in Nassau...but stay away from Miracle Mile..a bunch of snobs
I gotta tell ya... I would think there has to be room to bargain where the economy is. I would think you should be able to get 1K - maybe 2K if you shop around.
I would shoot for 1K off MSRP and 1K credit in accessories - as a starting point. Some dealers will absolutely not budge - but if you shop around.. you should be able to get a good deal.
The economy is in the dumps and the forecast is to get worse.. and Harley's are about as disposable as it gets when it comes to luxury items.
Do your home work before hand, go to the dealer with a specific bike in mind, print out the spec sheet and ask for the world, they might say yes but if they say no at least you asked...
Do some serious shopping and bargaining.....It's a buyers market out there. After you and the dealer establish a price, to close the deal, have them throw in some aftermarket extras.
