I know the industry is slow on coming up with an exhaust for the rocker. my question is i took off the top slip on muffler to help the sound. and it sounds good. i left the bottom one on for right now. it looks good because they are wrapped so the increase in size it not that noticeable. now to the question... have no restriction on the top pipe and having a muffler on the bottom pipe restricting air flow. is that badfor the engine? bad for the bike at all?? havent driven it yet just startedit upand started thinking. let me know what you know and think thanks...
big no no
looks good?its gotta look like horses a**
do us a favor put that muffler back on
before you wreck your new ride
you also forfit riding your scoot for 1 day lol
welcome to rocker forum, congrats on your ride
Dude...........ur gonna burn up your valves on the back cylinder....it may sound good now but in the long run it aint worth it.... Just broke mine in and got V&H big radius 2 into 1 and they bolt right up (and sound great too)
hey where did you buy your V&H 2-1 and also what type of tuner did you go with i was going to put the power programer on my 08 rocker but everything i see says it has to 02 eliminater and i really dont wanna do away with them also did you just order them for an 08 softail
Got my exhaust from American classic cycles. They are an e-bay store and they were the best price I could find...525 with free shipping. Part number is 28001. As far as the tuner I have't done anything to it besides stage 1 air cleaner, no popping so the dealer mechanic told me not to waste the money.
When I spoke to the service guy at the Dealer he said after the pipes and air cleaner change you do not need the SERT or the more expensive super tuner.
He suggested only getting the stage 1 download from Harley.
He said this is not specific for the bikes exact setup but is fine.
He said the Super Tuner and Dyno would give you a more precise MAP but that it is not really necessary.
But yes, taking off the muffler allows cool air to enter the cylinder and cause rapid cooling and metal fatigue to the valve train and head.
Also taking off one and not the other casues more backpressure in one cylinder and less in the other!
thanks for the help guys i guess i will have to order my new pipes this weekend also did you have to do anything to the bracket to make it work alot of people talk about the bracket for the softail will not work on the rocker
The bracket that comes with the pipes for the V&H 08 softtail 2 into 1 bolted right on for me but if you get the 2 into 2 you need a modified bracket
