i have an 02 standard EFI and my idle never really seems to lower after the bike warms up... at a stop light my bike definitely idles much higher than everyone elses. i pulled off my air cleaner asm only to find the idle adjuster has a cap over it to prevent tampering. it does appear that the butterfly is closing all the way and it is hitting the stopper. i installed a power commander 3 usb and staggered python slash cuts (no baffles) and it made no difference from when it was stock (just a lot louder and quicker to rev limiter)... any ideas? the local dealership doesnt like to work on anything isnt stock or screamin eagle? thanks
The only way to change the idle on an EFI bike (withnthe stock ECM) is to get a SERT and changethe programing. Not even sure if you can do it on yours as it may not have the Delphi system but the older Merelli system. If it does I'm not sure how you deal with one of them short of replacing it with either a newer stock Delphi (not easy) or something like a Thundermax system.
The PCIII can't control the idle, its only real function is to modify the fuel pulse signals to the injectors.
thanks.. i called a different mechanic at the dealership and he says he can hook it up to his computer and adjust it electronically. says he'll only charge .5hr for labor... we'll see

Chances are your idle is set correctly already within the ECM idle tables. Your high idle problem might very well be a bad IAC or IAT sensor.
If things are working properly either of those two problems "should" trigger a Check Engine light error.
